Job Description
Bechtel Corporation in Egypt is looking for a Safety Coach (Officer) who will work closely with the Bechtel HSE department to assist with chosen tasks, help develop and deliver safety messages and information, and cultivate a Zero Accident Philosophy among fellow craftsmen.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Monitor, on a full time basis, the safety of their particular discipline craft, as well as the disciplines that work with/around them. (I.e. support craft: laborers, scaffold builders, workers above or below, etc.).
Maintain an active presence in the field throughout most of the work shift. This includes the ability to be able to climb structures, scaffold ladders, and other work areas above elevation.
Monitor control measures for hazards in the work environment. When hazards need to be corrected, follow up thoroughly to ensure corrective actions are met and are effective.
Audit and segregate outdated equipment.
Actively and consistently participate in HSE Walk-Downs.
Follow the HSE reporting structure as defined.
Upon identifying an activity that is perceived to cause imminent danger, a safety proctor has the authority and responsibility to stop work immediately and correct the situation, as well as, notify the appropriate supervisor in order to prevent the situation from occurring again.
Job Requirements
20 + years in the trade. Passionate about workplace safety.
Proficient in Arabic and English (oral and written)
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive experience in heavy construction work. Successfully worked as a Supervisor on construction projects is a plus
