Job Description
Delta International Petroleum Services (DIPS) for Oil & Gas is currently seeking to hire a Lab Technician who will be Responsible for operation and maintenance of site based laboratory for supporting the Oil, Gas, Produced Water, water injection plants. Performs chemical, biological, and physical tests of various samples of the offshore plants. Assists with a variety of special laboratory projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Perform chemical, biological, and physical tests required for crude oil, wet and dry gas, produced water, injection water, aviation and diesel fuels, lube oils and any other fluids required at offshore oil/ gas production site.
Tests will include water in oil, oil in water, particle count, turbidity, pH, mV, ORP, Conductivity, Salinity, Total Dissolved solids (TDS), resistivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Nitrate, Chloride, Sodium, Ammonia, Fluoride and Ammonium, Total Organic Carbon, Fuel test, Flash point, Density, Conductivity, Chloride, Chlorine (free and total), Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Hydroxide, Sulphate, Sulphite, Hardness, Hydrogen Sulphide, Total and Soluble iron, bacterial and fungal growth, SRB, MPN (Most Probable Number), Microbiological water test, relative and absolute humidity, dew point, TDS, TSS, Aviation fuel, diesel etc.
Utilize a wide variety of laboratory equipment including Centrifuge, Coulter Counter, Turbidity meter, Multi-parameter bench top meter, Total Organic Carbon Analyser, Portable fuel integrity test kit, Portable salt in crude content Analyser, Spectrophotometer, Karl Fischer Titrator, Twin foam tester, Digital Density/Specific gravity meter, Hydrogen Sulphide test kit, Pocket colorimeter, Dissolved Oxygen test kits, Sulfite test kit, Soluble iron test kit, Fuel test kit, Drager kit, Millipore Microbiological water test kit, hygrometer, Refractometer, Turbidity Meter and any other equipment that might be available in the offshore site laboratory.
Collect samples from site using appropriate sampling system and sample points. Preserve sample for analysis.
Collect and prepare samples for transportation to shore based laboratories for specific analysis.
Monitor and review the results of the quality assurance/control program; analyze laboratory data and recommend treatment modifications; present data analysis in tabular and graphical forms.
Maintain accurate and thorough records of laboratory procedures and results.
Assess laboratory equipment needs and raise request for procurement.
Monitor laboratory supply levels and raise requisitions for new supplies.
Troubleshoot, clean and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Perform a variety of special projects as assigned.
Provide lab training to plant personnel on proper lab methods, procedures, and techniques.
Perform related duties as assigned by Team Leader Operations.
Job Requirements
B.Sc. Degree or equivalent in Chemistry.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a laboratory analysing oilfield related products/ fluids.
Good knowledge of spoken and written the English Language.
