    The primary role of the Customer Screening Executive is to disposition alerts via a detailed investigation and appropriately close alerts that can be discounted / negated. The Analyst will seek to validate the usefulness of the alert and primarily utilizes the core banking/internal system data sources to determine if the alert is a potential/exact match or otherwise requires further escalation. If the alert requires escalation, it will be passed to a Level 3 for further complex research and investigation. The Analyst will also raise appropriate RFI requests to contact the relationship managers or branches for additional customer information required to disposition the alert. The Level 2 Analyst will finally document the findings and summarize in a clear and concise manner with evidences and thus ensuring that the work is completed in accordance with established procedures and standards.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Impact on the Business/Function

    • Review the alerts generated by HSBC Group application and ensure the Potential and Exact matches are reported to Level 3 in accordance with regulatory requirements where appropriate.

    • Build on the knowledge of latest Sanctions & Anti Money laundering trends

    • Escalations from Level 1are correctly interpreted and full investigation undertaken before a decision is applied.

    • Common fraud / errors / irregular escalations are identified and escalated in accordance with procedures in a timely manner.

    • Adhere to the process requirements in accordance with established procedures and set standards.

    • Complete assigned tasks independently in the established timeframe as per the process benchmarks.

    • Achieve the levels of productivity and quality as per the standards, agreed for the process.

    • All data requirements (timesheets and process information) is accurately updated in a timely manner.

    • Collection of the necessary research and investigation information / source documents for analysis and evidence.

    • By adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department through Line management about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity.

    • Issues / problems are effectively investigated and resolved or are appropriately referred with recommendations to the Line Manager.

    • To proactively answer mails relating to alert investigation enquiries and notify supervisors of concerns. Meet the operational standard in all situations.

    • Meeting the Daily/Monthly/Learning Curve Targets for the period mentioned.

    • Turnaround Time: Achieve 100% timeliness in all the reviews.

    • Achieve the productivity targets (RPH) as set by the Line Manager. (Team Avg.)

    • Customers / Stakeholders

    • Demonstrate knowledge of features, benefits and procedures and take initiative to review daily process updates for defect free implementation.

    • Demonstrate ways to improve customer service and increase productivity.

    • Timely referral to the respective Relationship Manager’s / Business Partners for queries is made appropriately.

    • Provide accurate and valid referrals to the respective Level 3.

    • Achieve highest quality standards and ensure nil regulatory breaches.

    • Exhibit willingness to provide inputs to achieve the risk objectives and specifically in alignment to the Global Sanctions and Global AML Policy.

    • Leadership & Teamwork

    • Acquire and share best practices relating to procedures / latest Sanctions and Anti Money Laundering trends to relevant processes / contingent sites.

    • The staff needs to share his opinions / experiences on cases with the team so as to impart a better insight for reasoned judgment.

    • Support projects on increasing awareness of Sanctions and Anti Money Laundering across the section.

    • Ability to work and communicate effectively, articulate and calibrate with Contingent sites and teams to share best practices and maximize efficiency.

    • Operational Effectiveness & Control

    • Take necessary actions to mitigate the likelihood of any regulatory risk occurring due to non-escalation of potential / exact matches.

    • Address any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.

    • Continuously assess the regulatory risks inherent in the business, taking in account the changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology..


    Job Requirements

    • FRENCH IS A MUST

    • Preferably from the Commerce or Finance background (Bachelor's degree)

    • Knowledge of various Banking Products (Eg. Savings Bank Account, Current Accounts, Business Account etc)

    • Sanctions & AML awareness.

    • General understanding of Financial Products and Markets and HSBC Global Businesses including the product lines.

    • Good understanding of Internet and its usage.

    • Political, Social and Economic knowledge of countries that are major players in the global economy.

    • Ability to speak and understand English fluently (Medium Voice).

    • Ability to write business letters and reports (High Written)

    • Strong decision making and analytical skills

    • Ability to understand and interpret numeric data.

    • Flexibility to work shifts.

    • Ability to work under pressure

    • Ability to build rapport with people.
