    Job Description

    The UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department.

    The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

    Interns work five days per week (35.5 hours) under the direct supervision of the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Expert, and the overall supervision of the Regional Representative.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Contribute to the elaboration of background documents, presentations, briefing notes, summaries, talking points and speeches;

    • Assist in the preparation of national and regional technical assistance workshops, meetings, high-level events and conferences;

    • Conduct research under the Regional Programme for the Arab States;

    • Attend and take notes at meetings

    • Additional tasks as required.


    Job Requirements

    • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

      • (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

      • (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);

      • or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) (OFFICIAL PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY IN SUPPORT OF ONE OF THE ABOVE OPTIONS HAS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION)

    • Be computer literate in standard software applications;

    • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter

    • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Languages

    • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
