    the United Arab Bank - UAB is currently recruiting for the role of Junior Legal Counsel

    Providing legal assistance and advice on legal matters assigned from time to time. Timely reporting to concerned parties within the bank.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Maintaining electronic records of transactions, documents, key litigation events, actions and court hearing dates to whatever matters/ projects is in hand.

    • Responding or preparing draft responses for the Line Manager to respond, to ad hoc legal questions from all parts of the Bank regarding, in particular, corporate authorities, notices from courts and competent authorities

    • Where delegated by the General Counsel, day-to-day handling of legal claims against UAB activities.

    • Conducting ad hoc legal research as requested by the General Counsel or by any member of the legal team.

    • Assisting the Legal team to respond to ad hoc instructions from the Retail & Corporate Recoveries Department on legal issues related to their debt recovery files and accordingly liaise with externally appointed law firms or debt recovery firms.

    • Assisting the Legal team in the management of all external law firm appointments and relationships

    • Visiting courts and official bodies, police stations and public prosecutor offices to gather latest information and learn of new developments to ensure that the Bank is fully conversant with current business and operational practices as needed.

    • As required by the General Counsel, legal support in relation to the drafting of insurance claim reports made by the Bank, in particular, the assembly of documents required to be submitted in connection with the claim.

    • Assisting the General Counsel with the preparation of monthly reports to be submitted by the General Counsel to Executive Management on legal claims and counterclaims against the Bank and quarterly reports to UAB's Auditors of all material claims and counterclaims against the Bank.

    • Performing any other assignment reasonably requested by the General Counsel.


    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law from an internationally recognized Educational Institute.

    • 1-2 years practicing in a Law firm or Bank.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of UAE Laws and its practice / procedures.

    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Regulatory and Government Agencies / Officials.

    • Excellent knowledge and communication (reading, understanding & writing) of English and Arabic languages.
