About The British Embassy in the United Arab Emirates

We work closely with the UAE in many areas of political and practical co-operation. We have an established UK/UAE taskforce, headed by Foreign Ministers Mr Hague and Sheikh Abdullah, which ensures we work together on investment, policy, defence, consular and other issues. We provide assistance to British nationals visiting and living in the UAE. We also help Emiratis and expatriates living in the UAE wishing to travel to, and do business with the United Kingdom.

The British Embassy in United Arab Emirates maintains and develops relations between the UK and UAE. We have a shared agenda in many areas of political and practical co-operation, borne of many years of collaboration since before the United Arab Emirates was formed. British Embassy Dubai can only provide a very limited range of notarial and documentary services. See the full list of notarial and documentary services we provide.

The British embassy in Dubai does not provide legalisation services. Follow the steps below on getting a document legalised in the United Arab Emirates. First get the document legalised by the Legalisation Office of Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in the UK. Follow the steps on how to get a document legalised (certified as genuine).

Once the Legalisation Office attests your document(s), you will need to get them stamped by the UAE Embassy in London for the next stage of the process. You can either go in person or send the documents by courier. The latest information, such as the current fees and contact details, can be found on the UAE Embassy’s website. If sending by courier, check that the UAE Embassy is aware of this and that they understand you are using a courier to collect the documents.

Finally, have the document legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Once the UAE Embassy in London has attested the document, you will then need to get your document stamped by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the final step in the process.
