Job Description
Springer Nature is currently seeking to hire a Translation Editor (f/m) for our Cairo office. This role is primarily focused on the editing of translated material and original content for Nature Arabic Edition, For Science and other custom publications. You will also need to ensure that the editorial guidelines are followed, in a timely manner, to meet publishing deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Edit translated articles, illustrations and figures from Nature and Scientific American to prepare it for publication on a weekly basis online, and in any print issue produced.
Translate material assigned by editorial management when needed to ensure a smooth workflow.
Revise translated scientific terms for accuracy to assist in the production of an Arabic science terms glossary.
Follow the editorial guidelines to produce accurate and verified material up to the Nature Research brand standards.
Work with Head of Translation to improve the quality of Arabic translation to the highest quality possible.
Assist in updating the online portal to make sure that all articles are put up in a timely fashion.
Perform other related editorial duties when needed.
Job Requirements
A graduate degree in mass media or translation, ideally a science-related graduate degree or a strong science background.
Postgraduate studies (MSc or PhD) in a science-related major would be an advantage.
Profound experience in editing, writing and translating (from English to Arabic and vice versa), experience in science communications and translation strongly preferred.
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
Previous experience in the publishing industry would be a bonus.
Excellent organization & planning, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
