Job Description
The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo, Egypt is recruiting a Communication Officer
The chosen candidate would primarily undertake work in the areas of press, communication and event management for trade and cultural promotion.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Second Secretary for Economy, Promotion and Culture, and in close cooperation with the Ambassador, as well as with the Swedish Institute in Stockholm and Business Sweden in Dubai, the Communication Officer will be responsible for:
Developing and implementing communication plans and media strategies.
Building and maintaining relationships with the Egyptian media
Writing, editing and preparing a variety of communication products for print, on the web, public presentations (e.g. media releases, questions and answers, opinion pieces, brochures, etc.)
Organising and managing press attendance at Embassy’s events
Handling media enquiries, both from Egyptian and Swedish media
Managing the Embassy’s social media channels (e.g. Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc.)
Maintaining, updating and developing appropriate material for the English version of the Embassy’s website
Monitoring Arabic print/TV/Electronic and Audio media
Highlighting and analysing newsworthy items/trends to relevant staff
Assisting with political and economic research and reporting
Developing and designing promotional materials, ensuring the “Brand Sweden” identity
Developing and implementing the Embassy’s activities related to trade and cultural promotion, as well as public affairs, including through project/event management and administration
Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts with trade and cultural representatives in key institutions, organisations and businesses
Responsibility for the Embassy's information material and its distribution

Job Requirements
The post is open to Egyptian nationals as well as to applicants of other nationalities with a permanent residence in Egypt
A university degree in communication, journalism, political science, or other social sciences/relevant field
At least 3 years of professional experience in relevant field
Knowledge and experience of event planning and budgeting
Excellent command of Arabic and English (reading, writing and speaking)
Excellent communication skills
Excellent command of MS office programs
Professional proven experience in managing social media accounts.
Desired Skills (not compulsory)
Knowledge of Content Management System (CMS)
Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator) to design simple flyers, brochures, invitations.

Knowledge of Swedish
The successful candidate will

Demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills across a variety of communication formats

Demonstrate ability to package, and market via e.g. graphic design, communication messages.
