    The U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Supervisory ACS Specialist

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Incumbent is primarily responsible for the supervision of seven Locally Employed staff providing citizenship and special consular services to U.S. citizens in the consular district and is the primary advisor to the Consul General and American Citizens Services chief on host norms and regulations related to American citizens.

    • Incumbent supervises each staff member in the management of specific portfolios, including but not limited to crisis preparedness, deaths, welfare/whereabouts, parental child abduction, arrests, overseas voting, notary services, and federal benefits.

    • Incumbent is conversant with laws and regulations governing all portfolios. S/He manages time and attendance, portfolios and caseload, training of incoming staff including vice-consuls and Eligible Family Member assistants.

    • Incumbent represents Embassy at diplomatic functions and events.

    • Incumbent collects and provides data for mandatory workload statistics and crisis preparedness reporting.

    • Incumbent assists the Consular Section in crisis preparedness and in the event of a crisis undertakes all appropriate tasks to assist U.S. citizens.


    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree is required.

    • Five years of progressively responsible experience in work involving the application of complex regulatory material, investigative activity, and extensive public contact. Alternatively, other closely related experience in a lesser amount may be acceptable if acquired in the performance of special consular services.

    • Level IV (fluent) English is required. Level IV (fluent) Arabic is required

    • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, Department of State instructions, local laws and practices, as well as local information sources.

    • Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others.

    • Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of contacts at the working level with local officials and representatives of private organizations.
