    The Sustainability Project Coordinator will contribute to AUS’ commitment to become the most sustainable and socially responsible university in the UAE. This role will enhance the university’s overall approach to sustainability issues. The Sustainability Project Coordinator will coordinate the integration of global best practices into university policies and procedures, as well as work with the AUS Sustainability team to organize and implement campus-wide sustainability initiatives.

    The Sustainability Project Coordinator reports to the Head of Sustainability and works closely with other departments to develop, implement, monitor and assess the AUS Sustainability Plan based on a combination of internal and external tools and standards. The Sustainability Project Coordinator is responsible for creating and carrying out sustainability initiatives and projects aligned with the AUS vision and mission.

    Please note that this is temporary position with 20 hours of work per week.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Project Development:

    • Work with AUS Sustainability team to plan and prioritize annual goals and projects

    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans for assigned projects

    • Strategize and brainstorm new project ideas with Sustainability team

    • Assist in the definition of new project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

    • Ensure projects align with AUS Sustainability’s strategic planning, goals, and budget

    • Complete new projects assigned, as appropriate

    • Project Management:

    • Monitor current projects and coordinate all involved to keep workflow on track

    • Develop and implement a framework for engaging internal stakeholders (i.e., students, staff and faculty) and external stakeholders (i.e., local community members) in the institution’s governance, strategy and operations related to sustainability

    • Create, deploy and analyze institutional survey data about students, employees and residents to be used throughout AUS Sustainability projects and reporting

    • Work to improve the project implementation process and communication

    • Develop and manage sustainability-related projects and campaigns with students and employees that yield measurable, positive impact in advancing sustainability

    • Communicate to the Head of Sustainability changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs

    • Manage project goals/project schedules and track outcomes for reporting

    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

    • Track and report successes, analyze project risks and recommend improvements

    • Manage and update data and information on sustainability projects to meet reporting and information requests internally and externally

    • Communication & Collaboration:

    • Cultivate and coordinate formal and informal community partnership(s)

    • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders

    • Share information, ideas and suggestions.

    • Ask for help in identifying and achieving goals and solving problems

    • Make procedural suggestions to encourage progress towards goals

    • Develop and manage outreach materials in coordination with Strategic Communications and Marketing.


    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years’ experience or equivalent work experience

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Superior computer skills; well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite, strong and thorough knowledge of Excel and preferable knowledge of database software

    • Experience working across multiple social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

    • Able to work effectively as part of a team

    • Flexible and able to multitask on several different aspects of a project or on multiple projects

    • Able to produce quality work with strict deadlines

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to work well with large and diverse teams

    • Experience with task scheduling and resource assignment

    • Experience with project management practices and tools to create, manage and track project performance, cost, verify scope

    • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
