    The Special Assets function is critical to prudently managing the bank’s identified distressed accounts; and this role provides crucial support, via credit analysis, portfolio management, regulatory compliance and MIS reporting duties, for the efficient and effective management of the Special Assets portfolio.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Portfolio Management

    • Assist the line manager to monitor the Special Assets portfolio through the use of control and tracking MI reports.

    • Ensure that Special Assets Managers populate the latest data; individual account risks are correctly and timely assessed, and that appropriate account strategies are formulated and executed diligently.

    • Assist the line manager in recognizing loan impairments promptly; quantify substantiate them in a rigorous manner.

    • MIS & Reporting

    • Develop and maintain MIS for SA Unit key indicators. Ensure accurate and timely data and MIS are maintained for the SA portfolio

    • Develop a commanding knowledge and understanding of all SA policies and procedures; ensure they are rigorously followed by the team.

    • Assist the line manager in in ensuring that controls are effectively maintained in line with the bank’s Operational Risk Framework, CB UAE circulars, etc.

    • Assist the line manager in Interactions with auditors, regulators and other critical external stakeholders, contributing to a constructive working relationship with them.

    • Coordinate with Business Units to follow-up and collect various reports / information / data as per CPM.

    • Assist the team in collating and sharing experiences and lessons learned with internal constituencies in order to expand their risk knowledge base.

    • Credit Analysis

    • Assist with accurate financial analysis and credit proposal preparation on large exposure restructuring corporate cases.

    • Assist in assessing and structuring proposals and transactions.

    • Contribute in the creation and renewal of CPs.

    • Maintain credit presentation standards.

    • Timely identification, recognition and mitigation of credit and operational risks.

    • For selected large exposures, assist in ensuring that CPs are properly presented and include all relevant information, and credit controls in line with the bank’s credit policy and local regulatory directives.

    • Monitor & ensure timely submission of HRCs and CPs across the team.

    • Review, check and assign where applicable the appropriate risk rating to each large exposure credit processed and initiate the change in the rating as the case may be to reflect the true and fair condition of the customer.


    Job Requirements

    • The candidate must be a qualified chartered accountant (CA)

    • The candidate must hold a relevant postgraduate degree, preferably an MBA.

    • Positive Attitude is a must.

    • Knowledge, understanding and experience of having handled remedial / distressed cases in the past; and relevant industry experience in Credit Risk Management.

    • Flawless writing and presentation skills, top notch analytical skills.

    • Demonstrable ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, within and outside the organization, including regulators.

    • Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return).

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

    • Understanding of best practice risk management techniques and frameworks.

    • Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
