    The job holder is to assist the Head of Product Control and the team in supporting the Global Markets and Treasury Business. The role involves the independent assessment of levels at which the transactions are priced at a particular moment in time, as well as carrying out the periodic impairment reviews and hedge effectiveness testing. The incumbent is also expected to act as a backup for the Manager – Product Control in reviewing the daily P & L reporting process.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:


    • Test effectiveness of hedges and maintain documentation

    • Ensure that hedge accounting is performed in line with IFRS 9

    • Analyze the impaired investments and required impairment prices. Analyze and distribute the results.

    • Ensure all investments are valued using independent pricing source and a sound rationale is used for valuing unlisted or thinly traded investments.

    • Review the portfolio marking vs IFRS requirements. Develop tools to ensure prices are marked correctly to reflect the best estimate of fair value. Develop tools to align the pricing techniques to the requirements of IFRS

    • Provide independent valuation and analysis

    • Review the Market Conformity reports and ensure escalation to appropriate level.

    • Review of front office desk profit and loss reports

    • Provide commentary for the P & L and substantiate the P & L to Front Office if required.

    • Provide Business Requirement Document for new system implementation and upgrades to existing systems.

    • Perform User Acceptance Testing for projects.


    Job Requirements

    • University Degree or a qualified accountant (ACCA,CFA,CIMA,ACA) preferable

    • Experiences, Knowledge & Skills:

    • Banking & Financial Services, GCC

    • Treasury Finance

    • Should possess knowledge of Treasury products & transactions and have knowledge of relevant banking regulations.

    • Commercial acumen, an enquiring mind and an understanding of the market and financial dynamics would be a distinct advantage.

    • Knowledge of treasury relates systems and valuation tools, familiarity with independently sourced market data, ability to articulate complex concepts to colleagues and management.

    • Knowledge and experience in Calypso/ Treasury system is desirable

    • Ability to work independently
