    The Department for Transport in British Embassy Cairo is looking to appoint an Aviation Security Liaison Officer Co-ordinator grade B3 (L) to start as soon as possible.

    To support the DfT in country in building sustainable relationships with the host government and other key stakeholders.

    To deliver core objectives of improving aviation security standards.

    To manage the office and support the ASLOs across the range of the business.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:


    • Initiating project proposals and taking responsibility for their planning, financial management and delivery;

    • To help manage, implement and evaluate ASLO aviation security projects on a timely basis in the region;

    • Monitoring, assessing, evaluating and reporting on local aviation security standards and procedures (particularly during or following capacity building assistance);

    • Providing advice and briefing to key stakeholders on aviation security matters in the region;

    • Providing cover including representation at events, opening ceremonies and meetings and links to the ASLOs when on leave/official business;

    • Identify, develop and strengthen working level relationships with the Egyptian Government and local implementing partners.

    • Map stakeholder relationships with Egyptian institutions

    • Provide protocol and cultural advice to the ASLO. (This is a particularly important aspect to working in Egypt. Egypt is very sensitive to protocol issues and faux pas have the potential to set back bilateral relations considerably.)


    Job Requirements

    • The successful candidate will be organised, politically astute and able to identify, develop and manage key relationships to achieve UK Aviation Security objectives in the region;

    • Good communication and proven stakeholder skills are therefore essential;

    • Candidates should also have the ability to think logically/laterally, project manage and be able to display sound judgement and common sense;

    • Proven team working skills;

    • Candidates should be able to write and speak fluently in both English and Arabic.

    • Management of budgets.

    • Must have at least 2 years aviation security experience.

    Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

    • Willingness and ability to travel. There is a requirement for a small amount of travel around the Host States and/or the region and potentially to London to attend the ASIO divisional meeting;

    • The Officer may be occasionally be required to represent the ASLO and the DfT at meetings with senior personnel;

    • Previous diplomatic experience.
