The British Embassy in Kuwait has a vacancy for the post of an Electrician
Joining a small Maintenance Team, you will have extensive experience of working on commercial and residential electrical installations and have the ability to use your technical knowledge of such systems to conduct routine maintenance, fault finding and repairs. You will also be required to carry out minor electrical installation work, principally small power and lighting systems.
You will deliver high quality work, compliant with the relevant technical standards / regulations, whilst maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Having a good command of both written and spoken English, you will be a strong and confident communicator with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations and be able to work unsupervised or within a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Routine maintenance of electrical installations within offices and residential accommodation;
Inspection and testing of electrical installations;
Electrical fault finding and repair;
Rewiring of electrical circuits / systems,
Identifying/scheduling parts and materials for electrical jobs;
Assisting other Trades as required
Assist in setting up of electricals for events
Routine maintenance checks for generators
Routine maintenance of fire alarm equipments
Job Requirements
Good command of written and spoken communication skills in English.
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar field
Good general IT skills: use of word processing, email and calendar management (eg, knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, Excel and Outlook).
Internet-based research skills.
Qualified electrician with a sound grasp of electrical theory;
Electrical fault finding;
An understanding of BS (British Standard) 7671;
Professional approach to duties;
Proactive team working;
Basic electrical certificate/diploma
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Knowledge of Satellite TV Installation;
Knowledge of Air Conditioning DX Split Units;
Hold a clean Kuwaiti driving licence and have a willingness to drive an Embassy vehicle;
A willingness to participate in an on-call roster to attend to emergencies outside of normal working hours;
Qualified to Diploma level in Electrical Engineering;
Hold a recognised qualification for the inspection and testing of electrical installations e.g. the C&G 2392-10 Inspection & Testing Course.
