    The U.S. Mission in the UAE is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Investigator

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • The Investigator provides guidance and assistance to LEGATT Office on all criminal, investigative, legal and socio-political issues, and in the development, functioning, administration, maintenance, and reporting of all aspects of investigative programs, inclusive of criminal investigations, comprehensive counter-terrorism investigations, data analysis, liaison activities, training and translation.

    • The Investigator defines program goals in consultation with the LEGATT and Assistant Legal Attachรฉ, devises work-plans to achieve said goals, plans and initiates investigations in the full spectrum of LEGATT activities, advises Mission personnel in LEGATT/UAE’s Area of Responsibility and other government officers in matters of fraud, criminal proceedings, and other issues on a routine basis.

    • Actively liaises and assists in the joint investigative efforts of the LEGATT and UAE police agencies.

    • Acts as a consultant and primary point-of-contact to numerous external host government, non-government, third-country, law enforcement and private sector contacts, researches/receives/stores/drafts/edits/disseminates all pertinent information and correspondence, ensures all investigative functions are completed in a timely, efficient and appropriate manner, provides translation support and performs other administrative duties, as directed by the Attachรฉ and/or Assistant Attachรฉ.

    • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law science, Military Services, Business/Finance or a closely related field that required extensive analysis, research, writing, prioritization, problem-solving and creative thinking

    • Work Experience:

    • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in investigative work with police, military, private security or US Government organization is required with a demonstrated ability to work independently or with limited supervision.

    • Language:

    • Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking English is required.

    • Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking Arabic is required.

    • Knowledge:

    • Familiar with aspects of the LEGATT Investigation Program.

    • The incumbent will be expected to become familiar with the day-to-day process of exchanging information among law enforcement agencies in host country and the United States and a working knowledge of host country and USA criminal justice systems with respect to all types of criminal investigations.

    • Individual must be able to familiarize himself with various subjects so as to render accurate, clear translations that capture the meaning and intent of original documents and discussions. A thorough knowledge of local political, social, and cultural customs and practice is required.

    • Familiarity with criminal and civil laws, rules of criminal procedures, and rules of evidence is also required.

    • Abilities and Skills:

    • Must possess excellent analytical, advisory, representational/liaison, prioritization and drafting skills as well as the ability to absorb and understand highly complex information and/or trends and develop a strategy to respond thereto, respond to various queries.

    • Ability to maintain extensive contacts with officials within the host country.

    • Ability to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information and evidence.

    • Ability to demonstrate basic typing and standard level computer skills.

    • Ability to manage sudden shifts in priorities, work extended hours without advance notice, provide after-hours support to POCs and travel abroad on short notice.

    • Must possess valid U.A.E driver license. (This maybe tested)
