Provide 'Subject Matter Expertise' (SME) advice, guidance and input on Sanction regulations (comprehensive and list based), transactions, policy, procedures and delivering training
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Provide compliance approval for wire transfers / trade transactions involving high risk countries (comprehensive and list based sanctions) or cases escalated to Compliance.
Investigate and clear alerts / cases from transactional, client onboarding and other filtering processes and Systems.
Provide advice, guidance to all lines of business on Sanctions regulations and Internal Sanction Policies.
Review the responses to inquiries received from various Correspondent Banks for possible sanction violations.
Provide SME guidance / input for new and existing Sanctions related projects such as policies, procedures, IT systems.
Provide SME guidance / input on reputational and sanctions risk arising from customers and transactions.
Provide SME guidance / input on managing the exit of customers due to Sanctions risk.
Perform ad-hoc investigations and analysis in support of sanctions investigations, regulatory inquiries or as and when requested. Thoroughly document and maintain related investigation files.
Ensure timely escalation of significant Sanctions related matters to the Head of KYC / CDD & Sanctions Unit
Provide Sanctions SME guidance / input on the production and delivery of sanction related training materials (eLearning and Face to Face).
Participate / support in the delivery of Face to Face Sanction training.
Provide SME guidance / input on identification, documentation, remediation and managing Sanction risks in customers and transactions through RCSA and control testing.
Remain current on applicable Laws and Regulations.
Job Requirements
Exemplary knowledge on UN, EU, UK and US Economic Sanctions (OFAC) / Export Controls, laws
Exemplary knowledge and experience of providing Subject Matter input for Sanction policies, systems and trainings.
Ability to provide and deliver sanction training
Strong knowledge and experience of having provided Sanction advice to all types of business and operations covering all types of customers
Good analytical/review/assessment skills of sanctions compliance procedures and sanction screening systems
Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with peers and seniors
Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills

Minimum of 5 years Compliance experience out of which 3 years should be in Sanctions role of a Financial Institution
