Job Description
During the internship the Intern will understand urban development challenges in Egypt and in the Arab region and assist in identifying urban development priorities and support the process of research, visualization and communication of urban development , land and planning strategies that facilitates inclusive and suitable cities. The Intern will work closely with the team in preparation, facilitation, organization, implementation and documentation of upcoming Arab Land Conference . The conference will help the intern in better understanding the New Urban Agenda, SDGs and the UN - Habitat overall port folio and the Egypt country office in the activities related to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 11: ‘Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable’.
Under the direct supervision of the Urban Governanc e, Policies and Legislation Program Director , the Intern will particularly support the Egypt country office and Arab Land Initiative programme in achieving its overall goals
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Support managing and creating content for the UN - Habitat Arabic and Arab land Initiative Website, Social Media channels, and other related websites;
Assist in designing and monitoring social media campaigns;
Support the production of visibility materials for national, regional and global UN - Habitat events ( The Second Arab Land Conference ...etc.), including graphic design and content development;
Assist in translating documents for upcoming UN - Habitat events;
Communicating with knowledge management focal points at the country offices to follow up on the best practices and lessons learned;
Undertake other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisors..
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication, Arts, or other relevant degree, with at least 2 years of proven relevant work in Egypt and/or the Arab World.
Be computer literate in standard software applications; have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individua ls of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic required. French is a plus.
Experience with graphic design and production software is required
Design & Editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, etc.);
Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.
