    This position manages the Country Protective Security strategy as well as day-to-day business and new initiatives across HSBC sites in the Country. Role Holder will ensure all HSBC properties and assets are protected from physical attack, secured from unauthorized access and that all staff (in-house or contracted) completes their duties as directed. Role Holder will also ensure that all aspects of local regulatory requirements are adhered to in conjunction with the Group and Regional Guidance and Standards. The position has oversight of, and implement programs specific to, the following eight (8) Protective Security Risk (PSR) domains, utilizing a risk based approach, across the Country such as Physical Security Countermeasures, Electronic Security Systems, Manned Guarding, Traveler Security, Close Protection, Event Security, Kidnap Preparedness and Anti-Eavesdropping.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • The jobholder provides professional security management advice that focuses on countering crime, civil unrest, and terrorist activity against the bank reducing potential losses and any reputational damage. This is achieved with colleagues from other business areas and counterparts across the regions and other organizations/law enforcement.

    • Develop on an ongoing basis physical security solutions in accordance with overall regulatory requirements (internal & external) and aligned to the overall Regional and Global security strategy.

    • Function as member of Country Incident/Emergency Management team.

    • Work with security guard management to ensure appropriate service levels and personnel availability at all times. Resolve local issues and ensure major issues are escalated to management. Manage assigned area security personnel and ensure support of all Country locations / sites. Review regular reports documenting significant events and contracted guard services.

    • Manage 24/7 control rooms and ensure appropriate policies and procedures are incorporated to deal with any security event in an HSBC facility (where 24/7 control is located).

    • Lead and develop both team members and contracted staff to incorporate and cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand values.

    • Work directly with the Global Travel Security team to keep Country Security Advice current, and manage the static risk rating as well as the real time travel restrictions.

    • Working with many stakeholders to provide a collective solution to issues whilst ensuring security mains paramount.

    • Operating in a specialist department that requires a high level of confidentiality

    • Prioritizing initiatives and day to day activities to ensure security is of the highest possible standard

    • Developing risk based practical solutions while managing stakeholder expectations.

    • Provide an innovative and effective response to changing physical security and terrorist/crime threats to the Bank.

    • Prepare guidelines and recommend security standards appropriate to the diversity of areas and circumstances in the Region.

    • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulator.

    • The job holder contributes to the bottom line by ensuring cost effective and efficient security services are provided, through a high level of customer service and by constantly searching for improvements in both.

    • The requirements to take a proactive approach to deal with complex terrorist threats are likely to be a major challenge for the foreseeable future.


    Job Requirements

    • Knowledge of the Regulatory Security industry including effective crime risk management processes through personal development with appropriate qualifications.

    • Experience in handing physical security protocols and successful crisis management.

    • Experience in law enforcement, security, or banking industry (or a mix of these) ideally with some exposure to financial institutions.

    • Previous experience managing staff and guarding services personnel.

    • An ability to make quick decisions in pressure situations.

    • Expert operating knowledge of, and internal relationships with, country government institutions, especially law enforcement.

    • Strong managerial, interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills

    • Have strong relationship and liaison regularly, with other Country PSR Heads in the Region to ensure constancy and to share lessons learned.

    • Acquire and analyze geopolitical intelligence from external and internal sources.

    • Ability to act independently and interact with senior executive management

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Security Management or Criminal Justice preferred; 7+ years experience in law enforcement, military, or experience managing physical security programs.
