EFG Hermes is currently recruiting for the role of Corporate Data Scientist
Responsible for finding, managing and merging multiple data sources to ensure consistency of datasets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Work with business stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve these goals.
Design and creates data modeling processes, algorithms and predictive models to extract and analyze business data insights required and to share them with the concerned parties.
Test data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on the assigned project.
Uncover data correlations and relationships to support the measurements and predications.
Identify the proper visualization models depending on the business challenges and datasets.
Based on the data gathered, make recommendations for the firm’s security plans and assist in the implementation, in line with the firm’s needs and current threats.
Use knowledge of various business factors to form a “mental model” which can then be validated or disproved by relevant data.
Work on analyzing data from the firm’s databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
Stay up to date with the latest data science processes and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 - 3 years’ experience in manipulating data sets and building statistical models.
Experience in using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Experience in working with and creating data architectures.
Knowledge of variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.).
Familiar with the following software/tools:
C, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc.
GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
Redshift, S3, Spark, DigitalOcean, etc.
Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.
Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.
Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot, etc.
Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
Good command of Arabic and English.
Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening): able to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience.
Able to build partnerships and work well in teams.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic; a creative and resourceful independent thinker.
Flexible in handling new tasks.
Attention to detail; ensure deliverables are always of a high quality.
Multi‐tasker, with the ability to meet challenging deadlines, and to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
