Job Description
This internship will be with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) in Cairo for a maximum of 6 months.
Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Assistant in creating marketing communication products for different media;
Designing brochures, reports, one pagers, fast facts and infographics;
Assist in proposing and updating corporate promotional products;
Media Monitoring: monitor traditional and online media for stories related to UNODC mandates and produce daily media reports;
Support content creation for the ROMENA website (e.g. press releases, articles and web stories, and newsletters related to ROMENA activities/events);
Assist in report launches and media enquiries, including media outreach;
Assist in proofreading and/or translation;
Assist in organizing meetings, seminars and events to promote wider cooperation with donors, foundations, the private sector and government partners;
Job Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above)
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic with fluency in speaking, reading and writing. Working knowledge of French is an asset.
