    Starting training in Houston, TX, flight attendants will receive a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, followed by full-time assignments at one of seven hubs. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training.

    Job Requirements

    The Flight Attendant position requires fluency in Japanese and English, a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in various service industries. Effective communication is essential in high-stress situations like aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, and severe weather conditions. The applicant must have a professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and be willing to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not allowed on the head, neck, or hands, but visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet should not be larger than a credit card or employee badge. Decorative covers, adornments, and jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

    Proficiently operating electronic devices is required for required tasks. A valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with valid visas and eligibility to travel globally is required. A second language proficiency is also an asset. The candidate must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, reach vertically at least 82 inches without shoes on, sit in an assigned jump seat, and serve and/or sell food and beverages in a diligent and professional manner.

    The position also requires being legally authorized to work in the United States, completing pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Medical marijuana is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position. A 10-year background check, including criminal background history, must not prohibit travel to or from anywhere United flies.
