Job Description
The Ground Operations Crew (Blue Reserve) is responsible for loading and unloading customer bags, operating ground service equipment, and coordinating aircraft servicing. They also assist with ramp service duties, waste disposal, and re-servicing aircraft. The crew must be comfortable serving customers and proficient in using computers, and be prepared to work outdoors under various weather conditions. They operate ground service equipment, such as motor vehicles, tugs, and elevated de-icing trucks, and work in a ramp environment. They tag, lift, load, and unload customer bags, operate external aircraft equipment, and prepare cabins for boarding and departure. They assist with special needs, guide aircraft to and from parking locations, and occasionally carry a handheld radio. They also assist with loading and unloading mail, small packages, and human remains. The crew ensures a safe environment and operation, and must report to their assigned base location within 2 hours. They must master all job functions and maintain currency with job-specific training in all areas.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 18 years old, one year of customer service or sales experience, fluency in written and spoken English, and adherence to JetBlue Uniform Policy Manual Standards. The candidate must work a minimum of 300 to 1,000 hours per year, manage work hour limitations, and be able to travel and work variable hours, including holidays and weekends. They must follow safety guidelines, perform under pressure, work in all weather conditions, and make occasional trips for training or temporary assignments.
The candidate must be able to handle objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 70-100 pounds occasionally with assistance, and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge. They must also possess a valid Driver's License and a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards. Overnight travel is available. The candidate must be legally eligible to work in the country, pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test, and authorize to work in the US. Bilingual skills, previous airline experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite are preferred.
