Job Description
British Council Egypt is currently recruiting for a Summer YLA & Activities Instructor to teach Young Learner’s activity classes during summer camps 1, 2,3 & 4 (from 16th of June till 8th of August)
To supervise and ensure the safety of all Young Learners.
To assist in the smooth running of the Young Learner and other teaching centre work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Planning activity lessons.
Preparing all the materials needed for the activity classes, e.g. (arts and crafts).
Delivering activity lessons to primary (6 year old to 11 year old) students and secondary (12 year old to 17 year old) students.
Helping to maintain a positive learning environment and high child protection standards.
Supervising young learners who need to leave the classroom (e.g. to go to the toilet or if they are feeling unwell).
All young learners are kept safe from harm whilst on our premises.
All areas of our premises are supervised whilst young learners are not in class.
All young learners are ready at the start of lessons be collected by their teacher.
All young learners are supervised after lessons until collected by their parents or leave the premises (in line with “Home Alone” procedures).
Give basic information to customers about times, location and teachers of classes/tests.
Direct all customers with queries or complaints to reception / registration.
As directed by the duty officer, contact parents by phone in exceptional circumstances.
To translate for teaching staff talking to parents as needed.
Preparing registers, classroom materials and administrative records.
Delivering placement testing for adults and young learners.
Making phone calls to potential customers.
All customers and colleagues treated with respect and courtesy at all times.
Adhere to British Council policies on Child Protection, Equal Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety and Dress Code, & all British Council policies.
Adhere to British Council Code of Conduct.
British Council IDs worn at all times.
To lead on summer camp activity classes.
To supervise young learners on British Council premises (outside lesson times).
To communicate with customers as appropriate
To carry out administrative tasks, as needed, to support the Teaching Centre
In all conduct, whilst working for the British Council or on British Council premises, adhere to high professional standards according to Young Learners procedures & assigned tasks

Job Requirements
Post holder must be eligible to work in Egypt
Completed high school leaving certificate or equivalent.
Spoken English to CEFR level C1.
Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and teenagers and how they learn.
Experience of working as part of a team
An interest in teaching Young learners.
Able to present information clearly and logically.
