Job Description
As the largest bank in the UAE, and since we are based in Abu Dhabi, this role is crucial to our corporate reputation. The Arabic Editor will assume the accountability of all Arabic communication disseminated at FAB in all channels, whether internal or external. They will be the key authority in Arabic, from a communications standpoint, and will provide ultimate sign-off on all Arabic content. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all partied adhere to the bank’s Arabic style guide, and that all communication is consistent across all platforms and businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Arabic Content Development: Plan, write and / or edit communications material ranging from press releases, opinion articles, feature stories, letters to stakeholders, presentations, speeches and formal addresses, website content, social media posts, and content of corporate material
Provide editorial oversight for all Arabic content aligning with broad communications strategy and key messages/narrative
Provide guidance to broader content team (agency) and editors in other businesses
Review final content and suggests improvements as needed and define new standards
Provide final sign-off on all Arabic content
Owner of the bank’s Arabic style-guide, and responsible for updating it regularly
Translation: Editing and approving the bank’s annual report, marketing materials, press releases, and internal and external content as required
Provide oversight of translated content to align with communications strategy and key messages/narrative
Ensure translation alignment in terms of style and language
Develop and maintain regular updates of glossary (a document that includes key terminology in English and agreed upon Arabic translation)
Evaluate and judge translation costs and effective solutions
Industry Terminology: Develop and maintain a glossary of industry and technical terms in Arabic related to FAB operations
Advertisement/ promotions: Edit advertisements or promotional material
Stakeholder relationships (agencies): Maintain continuous coordination with external agencies and ensure finalisation of Arabic content as per FAB communication standards
Liaison with Group CEO’s office and Group Head of Subsidiaries, Strategy and Transformation on high level content
Job Requirements
Must possess very strong written and verbal Arabic communication skills
5+ years of experience in copywriting/editing is a MUST.
Writing Skills: Write Arabic well: with proper tone, feeling, sentence structure and emotion. Grammar counts!
Creativity: You will need to create original work and develop ideas around your chosen themes.
Determination: Some assignments can take a long time to finish, and may require many, many revisions.
Persuasion: know how to write persuasively and in some cases, defend their creative choices.
Social Perceptiveness: Should have your finger on the pulse, so that their copy is relevant and modern
Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
