    The U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Furnishing Technician

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • The incumbent works for the Supply and Property Management (SPM) Warehouse Furnishing Section, under the Furnishings Supervisor.

    • Offload incoming containers/delivery trucks of expendable supply items and non-expendable property including furniture, appliances, and equipment; often under harsh conditions (i.e. heat of the day, extended work hours, non-workdays, etc.).

    • Use proper tools to store items sorted by description in the proper location.

    • Assemble hospitality / welcome kits and reupholsters furniture using proper tools and prepare them for make-ready apartments.

    • Presses and irons, issues, steams / hangs draperies, for make-ready tasks.

    • Also works to complete larger furnishing projects, such as fabricating and installation of awning panels, as directed by their supervisor.

    • Is required to lift, carry and move heavy containers and/or equipment / furniture with or without assistance of elevators and deal with security guards at rented locations to accomplish the job.

    • Maintain work areas in a safe and organized condition.

    • Travel to and from worksite by government provided transportation


    Job Requirements

    • Completion of elementary school is required

    • Level II (Limited) Speaking/Writing/Reading of English is required. (This will be tested).

    • Level II (Limited) Speaking/Writing/Reading of Arabic is required.

    • Must be able to perform heavy work and make heavy lifts at times with or without assistance of elevators or other equipment.

    • Possess local driver’s license in order to operate government vehicles.

    • One-year of warehouse experience or an equivalent combination of warehouse and laborer experience is required.

    • Knowledge of the types of supply and property items.
