Job Description
The Operational and Resilience Risk Manager provides support on both specialist and stewardship activities. Coverage across payments and transaction processing, contingency and physical security risk is required, along with support on operational risk oversight and resilience risk stewardship activities. The role holder is responsible for ensuring that all Wholesale establishes and adheres to standards for the management of operational risk as set out in the Group’s framework for Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk Management, and that resilience risks are managed within appetite..
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Impact on the Business:
Supports the design of the Operational and Resilience Risk taxonomy and the operational framework
Supports implementation of the Operational Risk and Resilience Risk frameworks, this includes Risk Strategy, Risk Appetite, Risk Taxonomy and Risk Control Library strategy and policy frameworks
Provides oversight across Wholesale 1st line of defence’s adoption of Standards, Processes and Procedures required to implement the Policy objectives
Provides robust challenge and actionable and contextual guidance across all Non Financial risks within WHOLESALE both enabling business growth whilst maintaining related risks within appetite
Provides effective oversight of risk management framework including policies, tools and methodologies for use by line management
Customers / Stakeholders:
Represent Operational Risk Oversight and Resilience Risk Stewardship to key stakeholders
Manage relationships with other operational resilience risk teams
Leadership & Teamwork :
Lead and role model for non-financial risk aligning with the Bank’s strategy, behaviors and values
Robustly challenge and influence to ensure how we manage and quantify our risk exposure and fully embed a strong risk management culture and behaviors is effective
Work effectively across operational resilience risk
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
Support the continuing development or transformation of Operational Risk operating model to ensure the Regional Business Operational Risk operates increasingly effectively and efficiently and is able to deliver HSBC's strategic goals
Partner with business Leads across 1st line of defence in the region to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report resilience risks
Ensure key non-financial risk reports adhere to requirements of Enterprise Risk Framework and escalation routes operate for top and emerging non-financial risks to reach appropriate Risk Management Meetings
Direct ad-hoc project work and investigations to provide further analysis into process control failings as required
Job Requirements
Strong level of business management knowledge
Strong level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience
Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc)
A BA or BS University Degree preferable in relevant discipline
