The British Embassy Abu Dhabi has a vacancy for an Economic and Energy Adviser, grade B3(L).
The successful candidate will provide analysis, advice and reporting on economic policy, innovation and growth, and energy and climate change related issues.
They will monitor and report on developments in the economic and energy sectors, progress UK/ UAE co-operation, promote the UK’s interests, and build mutual understanding with our hosts in these areas.
Although the job is initially based in Abu Dhabi, we are open to look at flexible working arrangements between Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the successful candidate
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Provide high quality analysis, advice, and reporting to London stakeholders on UAE developments, including a weekly roundup on economic and energy issues;
Help shape our engagement with interlocutors to support UK policy;
Respond to UK government enquiries, providing accurate data and high quality information;
Contribute to wider regional economic reporting and work closely with the regional Prosperity Network, Department for International Trade (DIT), and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) colleagues in support of the UK prosperity agenda;
Member of the UAE-wide Prosperity Board, working closely with the Dubai-based Prosperity Officer.
Develop an accessible collection of core economic analysis, data, and facts to support Embassy colleagues in their work;
Create and maintain a strong network of national and international contacts to progress our engagement;
Support on Economic/ Energy elements of official visits.
Job Requirements
A university degree in a relevant field
Excellent analytical and communications skills including fluency in both written and spoken English
Ability to think strategically to spot opportunities
Flexible approach, strong initiative, and adaptability to changing UK priorities
Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to work well with others
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Previous experience working in the Middle East
Arabic language skills
